THAILAND: God has a Sense of Humour:)

Image
Me at Starbucks in Patong:) It is 8am and we have woken up to our 2nd day in Boat Lagoon Marina in Phuket Thailand . I am still doing my blogs on our journey through Indo but have decided to also do recent blogs in between our Indo adventure or you will only be hearing our recent stories half way through next year:)). Sharyn having a zombie It is drizzling outside and when I went out just now to bring all the linen in  that I had hung up to dry on the boats rigging for the night, I saw that our boat was quietly being moved forward on our jetty by the local  marine staff. It just shows:) We could be stolen in Micah by Thai pirates and we would not even know until we woke up! I woke Brent up and we watched to see what type of boat would be moored behind us in this very tightly jammed marina. Au Chalong anchorage in Phuket A huge monohull like the boat from The Perfect Storm came sweeping importantly in from around the corner and she slott...

aah- we are leaving this beautiful island:(

Ahh! We are leaving this beautiful island.(16/9) I have really got comfortable here. We anchored close to the shore and yet 2 days ago i put goggles on and went for a swim around the boat and we were in 20m deep water! White sandy bottom and one little fish was all i could see:)  Yesterday was so exciting (as usual!) It started off not so exciting as there were flies everywhere! I decided to quickly vacuum the carpets and then Brent started to clean the cockpit-much to Cody's horror as he stood one foot on the yacht and the other on the duck, surfboard under his arm while we were all scrubbing furiously. I must admit, what a difference to the feeling of the boat after a whirlwind springclean. Finally we headed out to find some surf! This time Louie stayed behind to look after Micah . Brent dropped Caden and I off on the palm filled island. I had 2 cameras, sunblock, towel, bottle of water and Cadens lunchbox! We had to walk along the beach for a bit and then deviate through ...

Chattering palm trees...

We are all taking turns tonight to do nightshift duty. I get the early morning shift (YAY!) Normally I use this time to clean, prepare the table for breakfast and make a tinpot of tea for those fortunate ones who wake up on time! Brent has set up one alarm on the right sugarscoop to alert the nightwatcher to an intruder! Lets hope they do not board Micah from the side:)! Tea and then off to bed... Good morning:)) Thanks to Brent- I got to enjoy an early morning -peace and tranquility before the rest of the boat wakes up. It is very difficult to wake up on a boat because you sleep SO deeply that you just want to carry on sleeping! Which is what i would love to have done ...but i was very appreciative that he did wake me up and let me stumble out onto the deck all bleary eyed to watch the sunrise:) It was quite exquisite. To the one side, the palm trees sqwauked away chattering noisily to each other like a big jostling crowd with nowhere to go. This island is just so pretty. It i...

Serious Surf!

Cally looking a little Vulnerable... Brent and I took the 2 boys in the late afternoon, in the duck to go find a smaller wave somewhere else. We cruised around near the shoreline, absorbing our surroundings and exploring with our eyes. The funny thing was that despite the sight of advanced civilisations,we still incredulously spotted a scooter along the shoreline. These people are not as isolated as they appear to be:)- In fact, nothing seems to be what it innitially appears to be! One of my best Pics! We never found another little wave but Brent took us the pretty white  beach that I had been admiring since our arrival! It was sooo picturesque! The water was soft and pale green with powder white sands. However, despite its beauty, we had to walk over the coral devastation from either the 2004 Tsunami or heaven forbid- a more recent drama- It was macarbe and unsettling! Huge slabs of what was once stunning coral mushrooms-now black and dead stark coral corpses-sha...

Brent impressing us!! Family pic in Puket-the only photo ! While I am writing, Cally , who is just doing the dinner dishes- suddenly said "hello" to someone? To a local who has just boarded our boat unexpectantly! As Vince says-"We have our first shopper:)-as we have our lights on  to say the shop is open for business:)" Hey maybe he is coming to tell us something uselful:) - like where to get fresh bananas?! (you can see that we have run out of fresh fruit and veggies!) Brent armed with the little Indonesian dictionery-has gone to chat to him! There is always something or someone to surprise us on this Journey-even when we think the day is over:)It is actually 10.45 pm already! Louie has allowed his crew Trav and Vince to have their first beer since our arrival 2 weeks ago:) simoleu island:) Just finishing off- Vince caught a thunderous wave on the boogy-board  today and it lashed off of his leg and broke free wa...
