The Journey across the Straitts continues...

The sun has set and the pink fluffy
clouds retreat gracefully into the night. What a sight of great beauty. A moment of awestruck splendour.
The moon is just a sliver gleaming above like a smile without a face. The evening star pops out and
grants me a wish:) She makes me think about Kateu Meleu song about stars...As I wait for my tea to arrive, I take in a deep breathe of life and feel connected to all around me-the warm breeze, the lulling ocean, the fading pink sky. Sitting up on the bimini is a lovely place to find solitude on a small boat with 8 aboard (except when all 8 of us seek privacy on the same bimini:) )Just minutes ago, a school of shy dolphins enchanted us with their presence:)

Today I woke up from a busy sleep of many unpleasant dreams. The seasick tablets, combined with the gentle rocking of the boat are confusing my mind. I fell asleep an hour before my night shift was over. Thank goodness Brent was my spare set of eyes! We had the 8pm to 12pm nightshift but Caden was feeling sooo seasick and all I wanted was for him to go to sleep. A glug of Ponstans helped him.

We hooked our first tuna at 6pm. What excitement bringing it on board. By 7pm we had 6 fat tuna on ice ready to be devoured. Sushi was such a treat for a late afternoon snack. My soul is smiling...I cannot stop grinning on the inside as I think aout the highlights of today and the two weeks gone by...

Dolphins at dusk, large circles of tuna springing out of the ocean at early morn, confusing Brent as he ran with his fishing rod and spoon from port to starboard and back, trying to cast into the thick of them. Devious devils-they taunted and teased him with their disappearing acts. Reeling in a tuna and something "beeg" snapping off its body just behind the head. That wild zing of the line that brings the whole boat to the sugarscoop and leaves us with a giant holding of breath... only to let out a unanimous sigh as the invisible "biggie" lets go its grip on the tuna and leaves us guessing what it was...
Captured in my minds eye too are those strange magical quirky little flying fish darting and skimming across the glassy ocean surface. They can be quite comical when they "fly" on a bumpy day as they soar just above the surface and then they collide into a swell.:)
  • Other images are of little swallows resing on tiny  bits of debris floating on the ocean. One wonders how come they are so far away from where they belong- in trees on dry land:)
