Getting Lost in Koh Lippe:)

4/12/2010 KOH LIPE island THAILAND
Earlier pic of the boys enjoying a stunning sunset!
Saterday night-we ate dinner on the boat and then decided to shoot to shore for a dessert.Caden had gone to sleep but because of his paranoia of being left alone, we all quietly left the boat with Charl staying behind to rock to sleep next to Caden...
We got to shore and pulled the duck up the beach while tapping our feet to the reggae beat wafting over the beach:)
It promised to be a fun evening...

Brent and I on the Survivor Beach:)
Darren left us to go and find a pub to relax in. How brave is he that he can just go and sit by himself somewhere and enjoy himself:) I am not like that yet where I can just enjoy being alone.

There is a street on the beach and it is called Lipe Street. It is lined with little shops, pubs and restaurants.
We had just started our walk when I got distracted at a table of pretty shell necklaces. Earlier in the day I had bought a necklace with one of the same shells that I love. I had collected a whole pile of these shells on a deserted island in Indonesia. These shells are round with a perfect curling wave in the middle. The mysticalness of these shells however is smudged a bit when i found out that they are actually snails feet! -The little door that a snail uses to block the entrance to his shell:))
However the shell is symbolic of our search for the perfect wave:).

The closest we have come to the perfect wave here

Us with Charl and Darren in Patong:)
While I was chatting to the designer, Brent,Cal and Code carried on walking...and that was the last time I saw them for the next 2 hours!! We had made an arrangement that should any of us get lost,,that we would meet at the entry to Lipe street.Well, when i realised they had gone-I walked that long road twice and more, then i waited for them to feel awful that i was not with them sharing Lipe waffles and ice-cream.2 hours later they came sauntering along with pancakes and cream still lining their mouths!!! Was I upset!? Say no more...except that my little Caden would NEVER have allowed his mom to get LOST!:)
Okay...let us move on. Lipe is behind us and we are now in Koh Rok Nok. Today we took the duck to the beach and all the boys played a bit of soccer. This beach is where the French Survivor was filmed on. You know they only choose the prettiest places to film Survivor. Later we dived in the most pristine crystal clear waters. It was like watching a marine documentary stuck to my goggles:) It was such a treat for me as I am not a big snorkler at home. I love beauty and this was true beauty! We saw luminous purple starfish with urchins on them, turquoise and green parrot fish, mammoth slugs, curious schools of little fish that come to inspect if we have food for them or if we were the  food:) (they did look like little piranha).

And now...Brent and the family have gone for an evening dive and I am all clean after a lovely warm shower. What a day!

We ate fish freshly caught by Darren yesteday, for lunch today!!
Last night, we took the whole fish wrapped it in course salt and tinfoil and popped it into the gasbraai for an hour! It was delicious and so healthy. We are all glowing:) Darren loved catching his fish yesterday-what a high!
The night before we braaied chicken. We got a huge fright because Brent discovered that the large freezer had been swtiched off for who knows how long and we had recently filled it with all our meat!!!Thank goodness it was not neccessary to have a big bonfire to braai all that meat- it had not gone off!

scrubbing the hulls! such crystal waters at Koh Rok.
I am listening to the sounds of the island. They sound like they are screaming! Apparently it is the sound of island flies making a high pitched shrill sound that if one focusses on it- it can make you feel like you are going MAD! ZONE OUT quick:)

Last night, Brent said that  he was going to sleep outside to keep an eye on the boat movement during the night. It was too chilly for me. Caden went to help Brent bring the fishing rods in . He saw a squishy thing on the line and squeezed it! Shame! It was a giant black bee and he got stung badly! It was quite awful because we are in such a remote place with no hospitals or doctors anywhere! It could have been a killer bee for all we knew! Thank goodness for Stinggo! We spent an hour monitoring him-poor Caden and today his hand is swollen large and fat!!
Cody-his eyes showoff his happy soul:)
Well it is time to go and see what everyone is up to. Cal is reading in her room, Charl is in lying in her room, Darren is sitting on the front of the boat absorbing the peace. I am going to cook spaghetti bolognaise for us for dinner-always a huge success in this family:)
